Call for Papers

Dear Colleagues,

The Faculty of Communication, Kocaeli University, is honored to organize and host 3rd International Communication Science and Media Studies Congress (ICSMSC) in cooperation with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Economic and Political Sciences, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and Başiskele Municipality, and pleased to invite the researchers and scholars of communication and media studies to Izmit, Kocaeli, Turkiye.

The main goal of ICSMSC is to discuss and share information on new approaches in the field of communication and media studies and exchange observations and new ideas in an international conference platform.

The congress welcomes paper contributions on a wide range of topics using various scholarly approaches. Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to, the following: Communication Science, Journalism, Radio, Television and Cinema, New Media, Media Organizations and Economics, Political Communication and Media, Public Relations, Advertising, Intercultural Communication and Media, Media Pedagogy. ICSMSC will be organized in a face-to-face and online manner, open to the participation of presentations containing different perspectives and paradigms in the field of media and communication studies.

At the 3rd International Communication Science and Media Studies Congress, which will last for two days, internationally renowned scientists who are experts in the field, Prof. Dr. Stuart ALLAN (Cardiff University), Prof. Dr. Grigors ZAROTIADİS (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and Prof. Dr. Yasemin GİRİTLİ İNCEOĞLU (London School of Economics) is among the invited speakers.

We welcome all researchers and academicians at national and international levels to the 3rd International Communication Science and Media Studies Congress.

BİLDİRİ ÇAĞRISI

Değerli Meslektaşlarım,

Kocaeli Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi, Selanik Aristoteles Üniversitesi Ekonomi ve Siyasal Bilimler Fakültesi, Kocaeli Büyükşehir Belediyesi ve Kocaeli Başiskele Belediyesi işbirliğiyle 3. Uluslararası İletişim Bilimi ve Medya Çalışmaları Kongresi'ni (ICSMSC) düzenlemekten ve ev sahipliği yapmaktan onur duymakta ve iletişim ve medya çalışmaları araştırmacılarını ve akademisyenlerini Kocaeli’ne davet etmekten memnuniyet duymaktadır.

ICSMSC'nin temel amacı, iletişim ve medya çalışmaları alanındaki yeni yaklaşımları tartışmak, bilgi paylaşmak ve uluslararası bir konferans platformunda gözlem ve yeni fikir alışverişinde bulunmaktır.

Kongre, çeşitli bilimsel yaklaşımlarının kullanıldığı geniş bir konu yelpazesinde İngilizce ve Türkçe bildirilerinizi memnuniyetle kabul etmektedir. Temel bildiri konuları arasında İletişim Bilimi, Gazetecilik, Radyo, Televizyon ve Sinema, Yeni Medya, Medya İşletmeciliği ve Ekonomisi, Siyasal İletişim ve Medya, Halkla İlişkiler, Reklamcılık, Kültürlerarası İletişim ve Medya, Medya Pedagojisi yer almaktadır. ICSMSC, medya ve iletişim çalışmaları alanındaki sunumlarla yüz yüze ve çevrimiçi bir şekilde gerçekleştirilecektir. Sempozyumda ayrıca uluslararası düzeyde davetli yüz yüze karma sergi de yer alacaktır.

General Submission Details

  • Presentations can be made hybrid. Participants can present online via Teams or in person at the conference venue.
  • You can only submit 2 papers and each paper will be charged separately.
  • If the abstract is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email and payment details will be sent with the abstract acceptance email.
  • he processing fee for each abstract covers the cost of abstract submission, presentation, and publication in the proceedings abstract book.
  • The accepted abstracts will be published in the proceedings book.
  • The accepted full texts will be published in the E-Proceedings Book.
  • The selected full texts will also be published in the special issue of Kocaeli Communication Faculty Research Journal KİLAD.

How to Submit your Abstract

  • To submit your abstract, you must Create an account by clicking the Register button on top of the page.
  • In register form, some information about membership will be required.
  • Your email address will be used as your username and you will also create a password.
  • After filling the form and submit, an activation code will be sent to your email.
  • When you fill the form field for code, your accoun will be activated and page will be forwarded to the dahboard panel
  • If you have an account, you can log in via the form, which you can reach by clicking the Login button on top of the page.
  • After successfull registration or login, you can use dashboard field for submiting abstract or see the submitted abstract's statu.
  • If you need help to submit abstract, follow the Abstract Submission Guidelines below.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • In the first step, abstract details will be given
  • All abstracts must be submitted in the extended abstract format.
  • All abstracts language, type, title, text and keywords in English is required. For Turkihs participants, also Turkish fields can be filled
  • Abstracts should have a word count of 400-750 words.
  • Submitted abstracts should include an introduction, methodology, contribution to the literature, conclusion, and at least three (3) keywords.
  • References should not be used in the abstract.
  • Paper titles should be capitalized.
  • The person who submit the absract will be titled as corresponding author. This can be changed at the second step.
  • In the second step, the other author(s) will be added.
  • In this step, email adress will be referance to the registered users. If the outhor found on our system, then you can give an order for each author.
  • If an outhor not registered before, you have to fill the required fields. Then, the author will be added to the submission and an information email will be sent to him/her to inform and activate account
  • In the third step, you will see the abstracts full informations and submit for evaluaiting.
  • Before send to evaluate, you can edit all the fields. But after, you can't.
  • Submitted abstracts must not have been presented at any conference or published anywhere before.
  • All extended abstracts will be “blind reviewed” for the quality of their link to the conference theme, and their scientific requirements, theoretical and research content, their adherence to the submission guidelines, and originality.

Full Text Guidelines

After the announcements of Accepted Abstracts, there will be an upload field for full text on the absract list

All full texts should:

  • Be written in Times New Roman 12 pt. font, with 10 pt. font for tables and figure captions.
  • Be written in Microsoft WORD file format (.doc or .docx), single-spaced, justified, with 3 cm margins.
  • Use a word count of 3000-5000 words, including references, and follow the APA 7 style guide.
  • Include a title, abstract, and keywords that are written in Turkish and English.
  • Include a capitalized title in 14 pt. font, and subheadings in 12 pt. font, bold, left margin.
  • The name(s) of the author(s) should be written below the title of the paper, left-aligned, and their title, institution, country, Orcid number and e-mail information should be given in a footnote in 10 pt. font.

The group exhibition planned to be held within the scope of Congress

3. INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION SCIENCE AND MEDIA STUDIES CONGRESS GROUP EXHIBITION

The group exhibition planned to be held within the scope of the 3rd International Communication Science and Media Studies Congress (ICSMSC 3), which will be organized in collaboration with Kocaeli University Faculty of Communication, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality on April 18-19, 2024, will accept works from the field of plastic arts. Participation with works such as Painting, Printmaking, Graphic Design, Photography, Ceramics, Tiles, and Traditional Turkish Arts (Carpet-Kilim, Illumination, Calligraphy, Miniature, and Textile) is welcomed for the internationally participatory group exhibition.

EXHIBITION PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

  1. Personal exhibition applications will also be considered upon approval by the exhibition curator and jury.
  2. Each artist can participate in the group exhibition with a maximum of 2 artworks.
  3. The shipping cost for sending the artworks is the responsibility of the participants (Kocaeli University Faculty of Communication is not responsible for shipping costs).
  4. The participation fee for the exhibition is 500 TL; for postgraduate students, the participation fee is 300 TL, and the solo exhibition fee is 5000 TL
    • The topic is open.
    • A "Certificate of Attendance" will be given to each participant, and an e-catalog will be prepared.
    • The exhibition period is from April 18th to April 26th, 2024.
    • The long side of the works should not exceed 100cm.
    • The images for application should be in JPEG, resolution of 300 dpi.
    • Works approved by the exhibition organizing committee will be exhibited.
    • Works should be sent by cargo in a suitable manner or delivered personally to the Kocaeli University Faculty of Communication. Works to be hung for exhibition must have hanging ropes, artist and work information labels.
    • The works must be sent by cargo or delivered by hand to Kocaeli University Faculty of Communication, Umuttepe Campus, final date is March 28, 2024. (Res. Assist. Kıymet KAYA, Faculty of Communication, Umuttepe Campus, Room No: Z054 İzmit-Kocaeli Tel: 0262 303 18 49)
    • Kocaeli University Faculty of Communication is not responsible for damages that may occur during shipping or unexpected damages during the exhibition.
    • Participants are considered to have given permission for their works to be published on the university's official website, social media, posters, etc.
    • Bank account information for the participation fee will be sent along with the exhibition acceptance email. Please do not deposit the fee before receiving the acceptance letter.
